Puerto Rico Music Store.com is my baby. It’s my PHP playing ground. A lot of the knowledge and skills I have today have come from developing, maintaining, and modifying the site. I guess you could say that this is where I found out what that this was something I wanted to do for the rest of my life.

I have been with the site from the very beginning. It has been online for about 5 years. Throughout that time there have been many changes to the back-end of the site. Sadly, because I’m not a designer, the end user hasn’t really seen many changes to the site which is is why I decided to revamp it.

In recent weeks I have been working on updating the design and implementing new features. The new look will be geared towards a web 2.0-type design. There will be more content on the main page. And we will focus heavily on search engine optimization (SEO).

Here’s a sneak peek…

Full Sail Online is one of the most abbitious development efforts I have been involved in. There are many Learning Management Systems (LMS) out there but Full Sail decided to build their own… from scratch. It took the colaborated efforts of designers, curriculum developers, beta testers, and web developers to make this product what it is today.

fullsailonline1Full Sail online is composed mainly of two sites: the student site and the course director’s site. They are both pretty self explanatory. Course directors create and manage content, quizes, tests, assignments (etc.) for the students to access and complete on their site.

This site was primarily developed in ColdFusion. We have used other technologies, like Ajax, to enhance user experience. It should be noted that most of it’s users are Mac users. This is why we have not neglected validation for browsers on those systems as well.

The developers that have worked alongside me on this effort have all been amazing. The quality of the product and the flexibility of it’s Object Oriented (OO) design are a true testament to our commitment.

ASR.Gobierno.pr

ASR.Gobierno.pr

One of the first projects that I worked on that is still live is the page for the “Administración de los Sistemas de Retiro del Gobierno y la Judicatura” (ASR). ASR is the a Puerto Rican government agency that is in charge of the retirement plans and policies for government workers on the island.

I was subcontracted by ASR’s Webmaster to help in the development aspect of the projects. The project took about 6-8 weeks to complete. Once it was launched, it was their Webmaster who was in charge of maintaining and updating the site as needed. This was one of my very first projects and I am thrilled that most of it has survided intact to this day.
